FD-MS360 Two-dimensional Scanning Sonar
Technical Specification
1. Purpose of the Equipment
The FD-MS360 two-dimensional scanning sonar is a single-beam or dual-beam mechanical scanning imaging system that provides omnidirectional acoustic imaging around targets in both clear and turbid water environments. It enables functions including target detection, identification, collision avoidance, and obstacle detection. Key features include low cost, compact size, lightweight design, and low power consumption. The hermetic, oil-filled housing has no external rotating parts, effectively preventing risks of sand clogging bearings and marine vegetation entanglement.
The base model of FD-MS360 is a single-beam scanning sonar, achieving full-angle detection through the rotation of a single beam. Customers can order the-DS option, which simultaneously features two beams with a 180-degree phase difference, thereby doubling the scanning efficiency for 360-degree omnidirectional detection compared to the base model.
The FD-MS360 sonar is available in three frequency options: 700kHz, 1.2MHz, and 1.8MHz, with the choice determined at order placement. The standard model operates effectively at depths of up to 300m and 1.5km. For deeper operational requirements, please contact our company.
2. Technical Specifications
2.1. Sonar Technical Specifications
(1)Center frequency :700kHz, 1.2MHz or 1.8MHz, with other frequencies available upon request.
(2) For details on the detection range, central beam width, and opening angle, please refer to the table below (the maximum detection range applies to strongly reflective targets such as rocks, coastlines, etc., under conditions of clear water, flat sandy seabed, good or moderate hydrological conditions, and a speed of <6 knots):
Frequency 700kHz 1.2MHz 1.8MHz | |||
Horizontal center beam width (1) | 1.5° | 0.82° | 0.6° |
Vertical opening angle (2) | 30° | 20° | 12° |
Maximum detection range (3) | 70m | 50m | 10m |
Note:
1. The horizontal 3dB energy distribution angle of the target formed by the horizontal and vertical center points of the sonar is allowed to have an error of +10%/-30%.
2. The sonar's field of view. Large targets within this angle can be observed by sonar, but the resolution, clarity, and detection range at the edges may be lower than at the center.
3. The detection range of high reflectivity objects such as embankment and bridge pier in seawater under good hydrological conditions is about 1~2 times of that in fresh water under the same conditions.
(1) Range resolution: Minimum 2mm, range-dependent;
(2)Range: 1~100 meters, continuously adjustable;
(3)Transmission mode: CW or CHIRP, with automatic or manual selection;
(4)Maximum operational water depth: 300 meters (1.5 kilometers);

5. Coatings, Markings, Packaging and Transportation
5.1. Surface Treatment and Corrosion Protection
(1)The sonar surface is constructed from engineering plastics or 316 stainless steel, providing exceptional corrosion resistance.
(2)The sonar can operate continuously in seawater for weeks without maintenance. However, regular inspection for aquatic biofouling and timely cleaning are essential to prevent performance degradation. After each submersion, thoroughly rinse the device with clean water and dry it completely.
(3)Sonar should not be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, as this may significantly reduce its lifespan.
(4)The sonar system employs an oil-filled design. Should any cracks or oil leakage be detected, immediate factory repair is required.
(5)If you require products capable of long-term underwater operation, please specify this requirement during the ordering process. Our company will then utilize specialized materials and manufacturing techniques.
5.2. Packaging and Labeling
(1)The sonar uses polypropylene aviation boxes as its outer packaging, offering shockproof, waterproof, and drop-resistant features.
(2)The sonar model and specifications are printed on both the sonar surface and the packaging box, with a sonar nameplate affixed to the exterior of the box.
(3)The package includes: the sonar host, a 5-meter waterproof cable (standard with sonar connector), user manual, software USB drive, and test report.
5.3. Transportation
The sonar can be transported by common railway, highway and air.
